Xingu Black Beer

This really is a black beer...

This brew is from Brazil, and the only other brew I have heard of from that country is Brahma - a beer I can't seem to find anywhere. Xingu (pronounced Shin-Goo) is incredibly sweet, and is reminiscent of a very flat cola - even though it creates an insanely huge head from the pour. The beer is named after the Xingu River in the Amazon rainforest, and is inspired by old recipes of Indian brews.

I had never heard of it before, but the Beverage Tasting Institute has awarded Xingu twice with the distinction of the World's Best Dark Lager. Can't say that I agree with that call, but it wasn't the worst dark beer I have sampled...

  1. Flat cola is exactly what I thought. As a rule, I never pour out beer, but this beer was the exception. Undrinkable.
