Founders Red's Rye PA

This was my fourth beer from Founders, and I have yet to be disappointed. In fact, their brewery is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, just an hour-and-a-half from my wife's family. These beers almost make me want to take the trip up there!

Founders Red's Rye PA is a dark, cherry-colored brew with a one-finger head of off-white foam. The beer smells of floral hops and fresh-baked rye bread. At first taste the beer is malty and sweet, with a brilliant bitter hop finish.

The texture of this abnormal IPA is warm and bready - it tastes to me like a hefty Scotch Ale that has been dry-hopped. This brew is very complex and flavorful, and it is helping me realize I really enjoy rye malts!
